Actelser offers solutions for high speed data transmission via a thin, flexible and lightweight cable wire using Plastic Optical Fiber (POF).

The path to this technology began in 1968 when DuPont built the first PMMA fiber, a plastic material whose transparency rivalled glass, as it was less brittle and more impact resistant. Years later, the interest of the telecommunications companies in this material began to arouse, as fiberglass was requiring complex handling and extreme protection measures.

Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) has evolved exponentially from those days, resulting on an increase on its light conductivity and providing greater integrity of the transmitted signal. As a result, nowadays we are able to transfer data between devices at speeds of 1 Gbps within 50 meters of distance.

Characteristics

SnapData product range consists of POF (Plastic Optical Fiber) accessories. Thanks to its innovative technology, the devices offer connectivity and greater speed rates than conventional transmission facilities.

Reliability. POF technology sends and receives data without loss or interference.
Transferability. Data transfer is performed in full duplex mode, with the use of a cable with two cores, one for transmission and another for reception.
Easy installation. The size of the fiber used is 2.2mm x 4.4mm, which means that is occupying the same space as an insulated wire of 2.5mm2.
Halogen free. The POF cables meet the RoHS directive.
With Wi-Fi. Thanks to the Wi-Fi backpack, which is easily attachable to a Media Converter or a Daisy Chain, we can enable a Wi-Fi network.
Compliant with ICT2. SnapData meets the ICT2 regulations of the Telecommunications Infrastructure, which includes specifications regarding fire safety and fire resistance.
No electromagnetic interference. When transferring information in the form of light, it does not cause interference to other devices placed along the fiber, and is also not affected by the elements that generate radiation nearby.
No electrical hazard. As it is a light transmission, there is no risk to the person handling the fiber cables. Furthermore, various devices are independent.
Transmission speed. SnapData guarantees, at a distance up to 50 meters, a transmission rate of 1.000Mbps (1Gbps*).
*1Gbps as long as there are no more than 10 folds with a curvature radius of 25mm.
Standard size. Both Media Converter and Daisy Chain are compatible with standard electrical boxes.

Description

Media Converter: transforms the POF signal to an Ethernet cable.
Daisy Chain: it allows to continue extending the POF network with an Ethernet output plug.
Wi-Fi Backpack: attached to a Media Converter or a Daisy Chain provides a Wi-Fi network.
ONT: input data signal.
Switch: transforms and distributes the input Ethernet signal between its 4 POF outputs.
